Adam Spiegel better known as Spike Jonze is an American director, producer, screenwriter and actor. He was born on October 22, 1969 in Rockville, Maryland, United States. He is the son of Arthur H. Spiegel III and Sandra L. Granzow. He started his professional career as an actor in 1993 when he made his first debut in the film Mi Vida Loca. In 1999 he made his appearance in the film Three Kings for which he won the Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Breakthrough Artist. In the same year 1999 he directed a film Being John Malkovich for which he won several awards and nominations including: Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Breakthrough Artist and Las Vegas Film Critics Society Award for Best Newcomer. In 2009 he co-write the film Where the Wild Things Are which grossed in US $100,086,793 and he won four award nominations. In 2013 he wrote the film Her which won several awards and nominations including: Austin Film Critics Association Award for Best Original Screenplay, Broadcast Film Critics Association Award for Best Original Screenplay and Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay and as of Jan. 19, 2014 the film grossed $15,026,000 in US.
He married director Sofia Coppola on June 26, 1999 whom he first met in 1992. The couple filed for divorce on December 5, 2003. In 2008 he started dating Michelle Williams and after a year they ended their relationship. Since 2011 he is dating Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi.
