Branko Lustig is a prominent Croatian film producer. He was born on June 10, 1932 in Osijek, Croatia. He is the son of Vilma Lustig and Mirko Lustig. He is the only person born in Croatia who have won two Academy Awards. He started his film career in 1955 as an assistant director at Jadran Film. In 1956 he worked as a unit production manager on Branko Bauer’s World War II drama Ne okreći se sine which has won three Golden Arena awards at the 1956 Pula Film Festival.In 1988 he moved to United States. In 1993 he received his first Oscar for the production of Schindler’s List. In 2001 he received his second Oscar for the epic movie Gladiator about a struggle for power in Imperial Rome.He has also produced several hit films including: The Peacemaker (1997), Hannibal (2001) and Black Hawk Down (2001).
In 1970 he married Mirjana Lustig.
